So I haven't given you guys any details on my body stats in a while and today seemed like the best day to do it. Why???
Well today as I stepped on the scales, I had lost weight. In fact over the last 2 weeks or so, I have lost somewhere around 2kg( roughly 4.4 pounds). Now this isn't that significant in the long run of things(I want to lose around another 10kg- maybe 15 at most).

However, the reason it's significant is that since I have started this whole adventure I think I have only lost something like 4-5kg. I put this lack of weight loss down to two main reasons. 1) I convinced myself that because I was running I could eat more. 2) I was putting on muscle.

But over the last two weeks, I have really tried to put the breaks on my eating habits. I tried the diet bars for a few weeks and found that they were not great(although the few I have left make good low calorie snacks/meal replacements). But over the last two weeks I have eaten healthy and also less. I have stopped my intake of sweets/chocolates etc. I now eat 3 times a day(it used to be only twice) and when I eat I eat enough that it will curve my hunger but not too much. I also am eating healthy food. Muesli with nuts and stuff in the morning, a sandwich at lunch and usually a salad with chicken etc for dinner. Combined with the running this is really giving me great results. If I get hungry during the day I have a few cups of water or a cup of tea etc and I am all good.

So looking at the image above combared to last time and you'll see that I have lost weight of the fatty bits(ie my chest and my stomach). I am very much looking forward to the day when my stomach is under 100cm. But I have put on sizein my legs. Now that is muscle. If you remember last week I mentioned how I suddenly noticed how big my quad muscles are etc. I think the running outside likely helped build them up quite a bit. Ultimately, the image shows I am going in the right direction. Also, my body fat % is also going down, dropping around 1% with this weightloss.

So after fearing food and it's evil powers, the last few weeks have helped me settle into eating healthy and using my self control to stop eating crap food. Now that I have some visible results, it's enthusing me to keep going with it. My goal is by the time I finish my PhD(March 21st) that I can lose around another 4-5kg by then. If I can, I will be a very happy boy. Anything more and you may just see me running down the street screaming for joy....

So I haven't updated everyone what this run is doing to my body since I started.... So here we go!

I have to admit part of the reason why I didn't post is because I was confused. Over the first few weeks the scales were telling me I was putting on weight, around a kilogram or two. Ummmmm what?!?!

I was burning 1000+ calories a day and somehow putting on weight?!!? Also it appeared I had added in size to my thighs and calves and remained the same in the rest of my body!! WHAT THE F*CK BODY- I FINALLY GIVE YOU EXERCISE AND THEN YOU TREAT ME LIKE AN ASSHOLE!

But in the last week or two I think everything has reversed. I have finally noticed, FINALLY, that not only have I taken off the weight I appear to have put on at the beginning but also I am finally going below it. Also if you look at my measurements, I am shrinking by about 2-4 cm across the board. Also according to the new scales in the last week or so I appear to have gone from 33% body fat to 32.5% or so.

It's also becoming noticeable- I notice that bulgy little bits aren't as bulgy. People are noticing too... My girlfriend is telling me that I am losing weight and that I am looking svelte! Not quite but in a few months I could be looking awesomer....

Funnily I had some crappy food and beers for dinner last night and expected if I stepped on the scales i'd be heavier cause of all the stuff in my body. But it ends up I was the same weight as I was yesterday! I ate a lot last night- A LOT! So it highly suggests I may still be dropping weight etc.

So why did I gain some size to begin with? Well ends up it's pretty common. My body likely put on a lot of muscle in the first few weeks which is heavier than fat. Also my body would have likely freaked out and started storing fat because suddenly I am burning calories etc. Either way, fingers crossed it keeps going downward. Also fingers crossed I don't hit the famous plateau at least for a few weeks..

So the good news is that I am finally on the way to losing weight. My goal is to lose another 16-17kg and then anything over that is a bonus. Its a lot of weight- but let's see how I go... keep
