My muscles are relaxing, my chafe is disappearing and my mindframe on it all is better.

1) The M7 marathon in July. It is not a hard marathon apparently as it’s not very hilly but for a first time it should be a good introduction!
2) The City2Surf in August. The race is 14km long but it is the iconic race of Sydney and probably something I should do once in my life.
3) The Sydney Marathon! The grand-daddy of them all. September 16th. My goal is to perhaps try and get my kilometres up the point that this will be the event that takes me over 3000km. Why not go out on a massive high?!?!
So those are the races I’d like to take part in. It’ll be tough but should be fun. The M7 should teach me what a Marathon is like. The City2Surf should help me maintain my running through August leading up to the Sydney marathon.
Based on Marathon training websites, the running I need to do several months before is massive. I’ll be post PhD so I should have more time to fit it in. One website says by about 6 weeks before I should be running 120km a week. At the moment I am running roughly 60km. Another website I found has an 18 week training schedule. Based on their tally for the training and the marathon itself, I will run anywhere around 1000km if not more in 18 weeks.

Lets finish this blog with some maths. To finish my run on the 16th of September I would need to run 2756 KM by the 16th, so I just have the 42km left to race on the 16th. The 15th of September is 284 days away. So my grand total per day would be
9.7km per day. Or 68km a week. To be honest- that shouldn’t be too hard to get too considering my current stats. Just 11-12km a day which I am currently doing 1-2 days per week. My goal with running is to get myself up to around 12-15km a day so that is well within my grasp!
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I’D BE SAYING THAT 4 WEEKS AGO!!
Have any of you run a marathon or have a good training schedule/website?!?! PLEASE let me know either in a comment, email or tweet
