Only a quick blog today.
Today ended my 3 day BAPTISM OF FIRE- Which ended up being a Baptism of one of those really long BBQ matches.
Today, I ran at 8:30 in the evening! After dinner... it was not good.
I just had one of those days(which I seem to have a lot lately). PhD work all morning that stressed me out. An afternoon of errands followed by a quick email at 4:30 from work telling me that I had a crap load of work due in the next few days. So everything got pushed back and an angry/tired Hugh ran to gym after dinner...
And I was close to vomiting the majority of the time! It was rough... Japanese inside-out rolls do not make good running food!
So the baptism of fire, my expected 3 days of NO WORK, NO PHD, JUST RUNNING was pretty much the opposite. So much for the 15km+ days- instead I ran 33.8km! Thats 11.25km a day! Not bad and well above my average of 9.14km so far.
Now comes the difficult part... if the last few days were supposed to be days with tonnes of free time- the next few days are the reverse! I have almost no time on Wed/Thur/Fri. So let's see how the heck that goes! But it appears that when I had lots of time I actually had none- so maybe the reverse will happen!

My feet at the end of the day...
Day: 35
Time: 81 Minutes
Distance: 10.2 KM
Calories: 1104Today's run was not so much a Baptism of Fire but a Baptism of Blisters! Once again- I favored sleeping in compared actually eating breakfast, so I started my run off at a gingerly pace and decided I was not going to try break land speed records today. However, at the end of the first 60 minutes or so I decided to have a little break and get a protein shake thing so I had some energy for the second round. As I returned to the machine and started jogging, I felt the familiar pain of blisters erupting in the arches of my feet. Around 10 minutes in, it was clear it was becoming a problem so I had to stop. So I didn't run a massive distance today but such is life...
I have to admit the constant niggle of small problems with my body(blisters/chafing) are really beginning to annoy me. I'd love a few weeks of no problems and therefore some great times.
Any of you who follow me on Twitter(
Click Here to do so)may have seen a tweet I sent today at the gym. On the machine directly behind me, a woman with massive fake boobs was exercising.
Now I wrote a post recently about not judging books by their covers. It's something I believe in. But this woman was on the machine, in a very revealing top, staring at herself(particularly her breasts) in the mirror. She was there to be noticed and to tell you the truth their appeared to be a number of men who were focused on her(I was not one- I am a gentleman and I have a lovely lady)! But it made me think about the gym and it's purpose... it's my belief that there are two types of gym folk...
1) People there for fitness
2) People there to be noticed doing fitness
She appears to have fit into bracket number 2! Funnily, I often bump into girls at the gym who are there every time I am there. It's funny as I bet I look like I am sneaking a peak at them but often I have a little glance at their numbers. I honestly am trying to see how fast they are running and what sort of speed. I am always interested in that kind of thing now...But these girls there are the ones I think more highly of. Yeah the other girls with their big fake, plastic chests may be attractivish, but for someone to go in every day, run fast speeds and be proud about their body in a natural way...well they are the cool ones!
